The Charcoal Burners

Visit to the Woods

Hi, I’m Jenny, a good friend and web developer for Chris and Lucy.

I’ve just been for a short visit down to Chris and Lucy’s to try to get their shiny new laptop connected to the internet, and schedule some dates for their Firewood workshops. I think they are going to try to get broadband installed because the wireless connectivity there is very poor, even when you stand on top of the highest pile of logs!

And there really are some huge piles of logs here at the moment…

And more stacked up here…

And Chris was hard at work making more shingles, as they seem to be flying out the door at the moment, partly thanks to the many projects that Ben Law is involved in which need shingle roofs…

Of course these are the same shingles which are on the roof of Chris and Lucy’s house, but since Chris first made them their house they have been used for many other buildings, such as this beautiful creation, the Lodsworth Larder, which is another one built by Ben Law and his team, the Roundwood Timber company…

Chris and Lucy’s house is looking much more like a home now too; window-frames are going in, and whilst I was there the design of the staircase was being discussed and (I think) finalised. I don’t think it’ll quite be finished in time for the new baby, but here is how its looking…

Also looking rather attractive next to the house is Dylon’s caravan – which yes he is willing to rent out if anyone wants to experience a traditional country break in it! It does come equipt with a working wood burner (of course!).
