iron industry, and including walks, talks, displays and all sorts of fun!

Fernhurst Furnace Open Days (12th & 13th September 2009)
We had a large display describing the process of making charcoal, and how
different woods produce charcoal with varying qualities. Information about
coppicing, forest management, and the conservation of British wildlife and ecology.
Chris did a demonstration charcoal burn, which was very popular with the crowd.
Of course we also brought bags of our own 'Hot Stuff' charcoal to sell, which
disappeared like hotcakes!
